Summer is coming... 3 tips to stay cool from SilverFox Label

A perfectly tailored suit can be worn at any time of year. Staying comfortable as temperatures rise can be a challenge though. Fortunately, we’re here to help. Lightweight fabrics are the key to avoiding that “just got pushed in a swimming pool” look on a sizzling summer day. Below are some tips to keep you looking and feeling your best.

Fabric

Thick wool suits are obviously less than ideal as things start heating up in Spring and Summer. Luckily, there are a variety of fabrics like linen/wool blends, cotton twill, seersucker, and fine linen that offer increased breathability. Additionally, unlined and unstructured suits can further reduce the weight of your garments for an unbeatably cool look.

Fit

Many assume a looser fit will increase breathability and create a “cooler” wearing suit. This makes sense in theory, but your choice of fabric will keep you from sweating much better than a little extra room.  If you choose to go with an unlined suit, ensure that it is perfectly tailored. With less construction, this option is much more comfortable in warmer conditions, but can easily appear sloppy if not fit properly.

Color

Lighter colors like pastels and soft grays will reflect heat instead of absorbing it. Not only will these bright colors keep you cool, but they’ll also help you stand out from the crowd of navy and black! Lastly, don’t be afraid to get adventurous with your shirt pairings – from bright button downs with long or short sleeves to more subdued T-shirts with drop cuts – summer is the time to be bold and remarkable!
